Agenda

  • 6.00pm: Doors open
  • 6.30pm to 7:45 pm: Talks
    • Algorithmic Monoculture – The downfall of UI personalisation? Looking at issues with algorithmic user profiling and how this can lead to marginalisation and poor user experiences.
David Lorimer is Glasgow based Full Stack UX/UI Designer with a keen love of metal music.
    • The Power of Storytelling: Designing Experiences That Educate and Engage. While both Learning Experience Design (LXD) and User Experience Design (UXD) aim to create meaningful, user-centred experiences, they approach storytelling in distinct ways. LXD uses storytelling to support learning, reflection, and growth — prioritising educational goals and cognitive engagement. UXD focuses on making the storytelling journey smooth, intuitive, and enjoyable — prioritising usability, accessibility, and satisfaction. This presentation explores how these approaches intersect, diverge, and together create powerful narrative-driven experiences.
      Angelika S.
    • Beyond the Screen: How Support Work Shaped my Journey into UX Design.
I’ll be speaking about how learning to adapt to people’s needs and prioritise their well-being as a support worker helped shape my approach to UX design. I’ll also share how I applied these skills to my final-year UX project. I’ll also talk about my experience on the BSc Digital Design course at Glasgow Caledonian University over the past two years, particularly my time on the UI/UX module.
      Josh Matheson
has recently graduated with an Honours degree in Digital Design from Glasgow Caledonian University, with his path into UX design beginning in care work.
